Reversible Painting?

May 10, 2016

Last week I decided to rework a painting, "Fall on the Farmington River."  Even though it was one of 80 paintings out of 400 that was accepted into last year's Granby Land Trust juried show, it just wasn't quite right in my eyes.  When I was done reworking the painting, I turned it upside down - a strategy painters use to assess composition, balance, etc.  Much to my surprise, I liked the upside down version as much, if not better than the right side up one.  The upside down, abstracted version resonates with me. What do you think, right side up or upside down?

 Right side up!

 Up side down!
